Hello, my name is Amy, I am originally from Skipton, North Yorkshire and I have spent the last 8 years living in Dulwich and working under the name The Dulwich Touch. I have now moved to Shortlands, Bromley where I hope to continue to work with heart-centred awareness and compassion to restore and nurture many more people.
Anahata is the name given to the Heart chakra, the energy centre associated with unconditional love, compassion, and joy. Through the heart chakra, we open to and connect with harmony and peace. In Sanskrit, Anahata, means “unstruck” or “unhurt.” Its name implies that deep beneath our personal stories of brokenness and the pain in our heart, wholeness, boundless love, and a wellspring of compassion reside.
As a therapist I strive to enable people to open themselves to healing, to reconnect with their bodies, and find their true selves. I am ever aware of the mind-body connection and how often people can become dis-connected, stressed-out, too busy…this leads to pain, illness, disharmony and conflict. I have developed my massage techniques over many years and have a unique style. I tend to work slowly and precisely, using subtle pressure points and a nurturing touch. Though to some this can feel gentle on a physical level, many find they feel a depth on a different level and a response from their bodies as they learn to release and let go.
I have studied: body massage, indian head massage, thai massage, hot stone massage, pregnancy massage and reiki over the course of 20 years and have travelled the world experiencing massages as well as giving them to others.
I am also an artist, specializing in healing mandalas: circular, geometric patterns, which hold healing within them. Each one holds an intention, which I meditate on as I work. The person who gazes at the image will then receive that intention.
Most recently I have begun training as a teacher in the art of Viniyoga, an accessible form of yoga, developed by T.K.V. Desikachar, the son and student of T.K. Krishnamacharya often described as ‘The Father of modern Yoga.’ Viniyoga is a Sanskrit term that implies differentiation, adaptation, and appropriate application. Therefore this style teaches the viniyoga of yoga. The main focus is to personalise Yoga according to the individual and their situation, in the time and space they are now through respecting differences in age, gender, physical health, lifestyle, occupation and interest.
